SONY WH-1000XM4 REVIEW: THE BEST NOISE-CANCELING HEADPHONES

If you on the hunt for the best Bluetooth Noise-canceling headphones, then I can't recommend the Sony WH=1000XM4 enough. What Sony has done is taken an already almost perfect pair of headphones and given them a few tweaks such as a Speak to Chat feature and also now with Proximity Sensors that detect whether you are wearing the headphones or not, the noise-canceling is even better than the already legendary Sony XM3. and finally one feature I have been hoping they would bring to the New Kid on the block. are multiple device support, which is the ability to pair these headphones actively to more than one device at the same time. This allows you to seamlessly switch between devices. For example, if you on your computer listening to music with your headphones connected and then your Phone rings there is no need to start going into your settings looking for Bluetooth devices to answer the phone, just hit the answer button and your Sony 🎧 will switch seamlessly over to the call. When you hang up they will automatically go back where you left off on your computer. The action is seamless and for me, this was the most important feature missing from the Sony XM4s

Design

The design hasn't changed much from the previous version. Which is a good thing as I found the design to be already a winning combination of comfort and feel There is a reduction to the headband and the cushions are 10 % larger, as mentioned earlier the addition of a proximity sensor in the left earcup, which also helps as a good indication of which is left or right much faster, so you will always know at a glance which way to wear the headphones

Sound

The Sony XM4s has a built-in analog amplifier that is integrated into the HD noise-canceling processor for low distortion and exceptional sound quality. They come with powerful 1.57inch drivers with liquid crystal polymer diaphragms which allows the headphones to deliver powerful bass and a full range of frequencies up to 40 kHz. The sound is pretty impressive

Battery Life

As for battery life, this has not changed that much from last year's version WHM3s. You will still get up to 30 hours of listening with noise cancellation turned on and if needed you will get 5 hours of playback with just only 10 minutes of charging. Which is great if your just about to go to the gym and realize they have no juice. So the quick charge feature is a welcome addition

Speak to Chat Feature

Is a new feature For the Sony WH-1000XM4 this, which uses the microphones and other various sensors in the headphones which will pick up on when you start to speak, this will then pause your music turn off noise cancelation and amplify voices so you can have your conversation without removing your headphones, a pretty neat feature that overall works well

Sony Connect App

Is a great addition to the already feature-packed Sony WH-1000XM4 offering a nice array of tweaks for your music, sound, and noise-canceling levels and much more, Such as the adaptive sound which will allow the Sony's to adapt to the different environments, for example, if you're on the subway or in a park, it learns your frequently visited locations it detects your actions in that specific location and automatically switches the headphone settings for your current situation, such as how to take in the sound. there are 4 different settings to this so if your sitting, walking, running, or on public transport it will adjust the ambient sound volume accordingly, you can also change this yourself within the settings

It depends on what it is you are doing, So for example, if you are walking in a busy location with lots of traffic and you need to be more aware of the outside noise then you can change the amount of Ambient sound coming into the headphones which are good for safety as the Sony WH-1000XM4 do cancel out a lot of the outside noise.

The App also come with an Equalizer so you can tune your music to exactly how you like to listen to certain songs, plus the app allows to switch on and off other things such as Speak to Chat and various system settings

Final Thoughts

Are the Sony WH-100XM4 worth the $348.00 asking price and the answer is a straight yes, If you want the best Bluetooth Headphones with Multiple device support, Noise-canceling which is best in class and overall design and comfort and let's not forget about the Up to 30-hour battery life with quick charging (10 min charge for 5 hours of playback) there is no need to think twice if you are in the market for a new pair of next to perfect headphones then the Sony WH-1000XM4 are the ones!
